CUT
There is a special formula for diamonds also. According to standards, round brilliant diamonds are cut with 58 facets. More light should be reflected to the viewer's eyes and it is possible when these facets are proportionately featured on the diamond and which is very important. Cut also refers to the shape of the diamond piece such as round brilliant, oval, marquise, pear, heart shaped and emerald. The new ones are Asher square cut and Royal radiant cut.
CARAT
Carat actually refers to the weight of the diamond. The price increases with the size. A pint constitutes 100 points. There are just 5 carats in a gram. Always go for the actual point size rather than a fractional weight, you sometimes get cheated this way. Jeweler's sale 90 diamond saying it a 1carat diamond. Always measure the stone to be on the safer side, because diamonds are not purchased every day.
COLOR
The real color of diamond used to be only white or the colorless. But now-a-days there are many colors available in market like pink, green, brown, black, yellow and many other to come.
CLARITY
Clarity is exactly the external and the internal appearances of the diamond piece. The quality of the diamond is proved by less of inclusions in it. Jewelers even have some magnifying glasses through which you can surely satisfy yourself before purchasing the diamond piece.
Although being the strongest and the toughest, it is a delicate stone which has to be given special care. It is very much prone to scratches and chipping, so while doing household chores it would be advisable to remove that piece of jewelry which has got a diamond in it. They get dirty easily and even can be washed at home only; otherwise you can go for polishing of your diamond.
